Sometimes you may notice a gel like substance over tulip bulbs which is know as gummosis; do not worry about it, it is not harmful. The place where you choose to plant and the type of soil you get also matters a lot. Tulips will grow at their best where full sun is available. The soil you choose should be drained well and also be sandy. There should not be any late frosts or even chances of being any in the future plus the water should not collect.

Now all you need is a mulch, bulb fertilizer, shovel, towel, and bulbs of course to get going. The soil should be dug about 6 inches deep and the temperature there should be around 60 degrees F; your tulips will grow in the best shape possible so plant them and water them regularly.
